Dear Sungmin,
12:38 am. the clock has already ticked away from January 1st to 2nd, and I’m watching episodes after episodes of We Got Married. I wonder how you’re doing. I wonder if you’re at the college you’ve been dreaming of. Notre Dame? Duke? Wellesely, perhaps? I wonder if you’re still interested in human rights. I wonder if you’re still thinking about majoring in economics.. maybe not because you’re not good at math? We’ll have to see. I wonder what kind of dates you’ve been on. I wonder if you did end up meeting your elementary school best friends and go on a trip together in Korea. I wonder if you’re keeping the promise of working out and taking dance classes in college… you’ve always wanted to do that. Have you met Christine and Patrick yet? What about getting your ears pierced? Have you actually gotten a new haircut, or did you decide to stick with the style your mom wanted you to have for the past 8 years or so?
Remember the days you spent in church crying about not getting admitted to Dartmouth? Are you still telling yourself to not fall in love again until you meet someone you might really marry? Do you still have problems with expressing your inner feelings with others? The resolution for the year of 2011 was to have more self-esteem… did it work? There are so many things I want to know about you, yet I’m somewhat afraid to know too much… Hopefully you have grown up, become much more mature, and more wise… perhaps even a little more girly. You sorta need that.
More than anything, I hope you have become someone who relies on God more than ever, much more so than you did back in the year of 2011. Never forget to talk to Him, and never forget to chase your dreams.
